«Oldest ‹Older 1 – 200 of 600 Newer› Newest»My favorite cooking tip is to do the prep work ahead of time. Dice up lots of onions and peppers ahead of time and freeze them. If you use certain spices together all of the time, make your own seasoning mix.
My cooking tip: When cooking pasta, bring the pasta to a boil, cover with a tight fitting lid and turn off the burner. Let sit for the amount of time it says to cook on the box & the pasta will be done.

My tip is to clean as you cook. So while I am waiting for water to boil or the oven to pre-heat, I am constantly loading the dishwasher or washing dishes so when I am done eating, I don't have a kitchen disaster!

My cooking tip? Encourage your husband to cook as much as possible! (Hey, it works for me!) Great giveaway! thanks for the chance!
My cooking tip is to plan your menu ahead of time. I try to plan 2 to 4 weeks at a time. It alleviates extra trips to the store and that horrible sinking pit in your stomach when you are halfway through cooking dinner and you realiaze you are out of a key ingredient!

Ok, my first cooking tip is to order out whenever possible. LOL. I'm not really that great of a cook.
My second tip would be to learn how to make a few things really well, so you always have a sure bet when you're called on to make something. People know if we're having a potluck, I'll bring dessert. I know how to make good cookies, bonbons, and cakes, and that's about it.

My favorite cooking tip, keep it simple. Many recipes that require under 4-5 ingredients are extremely tasty as well as quick to prepare. Also, I keep some cooked diced chicken in the freezer for quick meals.

Cooking Tip: Clean up your mess as you cook! I keep an empty box or bag (whatever ingredients packaging I am cooking with) on the counter. Whenever I have trash, I put it in the empty container. This cuts down on clutter all over the counter or running to the trash can every couple of minutes!

Start with a clean kitchen, a sink of soapy water, and clean as I go. I HATE cooking in a messy environment - and it's even worse when I'm all tired out from cooking and have a huge mess staring at me - it takes all the fun out of it.

Favorite cooking tip: When making a skillet-grilled ham & cheese sandwich, try including a thin slice of raw red onion. It gives a delicious tang to the sandwich.
following on twitter as aaw234.
Another cooking tip: When cooking with eggs, let them warm to room temperature before using. That way their cold temperature doesn't affect the cooking process.
Premix the dry ingredients separate from the wet ingredients. That way the ingredients mix more thoroughly when combined.

My tip is to find recipes that are both easy AND taste good. I've had so many easy meals that were just - yuck. I am all about easy, but it has to taste good. My friends snatch up all of my recipes for party foods for this reason.
I don't watch Rachael Ray very often, but I love her "garbage bowl" idea. It really does make the clean-up easier -- no messy eggshells and vegetable peels all over my counter.

My cooking tip would be to know what you are making ahead of time and prepping for it.
This is sort of post-cooking tip, for storing leftovers. I always spray Pam (or other non-stick spray) in my plastic containers before filling them with leftovers, particularly those made with tomato sauce. It keeps the food from staining the plastic.

So many awesome cooking tips....I didn't read them all so I don't know if anyone else wrote this yet, but whenever you're measuring something sticky, spray the measuring spoon/cup with Pam first. I always keep little cans of V-8 juice on hand. I tend to cook big pots of spaghetti, chili, and goulash. When you need to re-heat, sometimes it has dried out a little, so I stir in a can of V-8 to make a little more liquid. I also do this while cooking if I have misjudged the amount of sauce I needed.
