I can remember being very nervous to go to 4th grade since we'd just moved to a new town. We went to a 'meet the teacher' thing the week before school started and I met a couple of girls who I was close to until high school. And my teacher was amazing, so amazing in fact that I ended up housesitting for her years later and know that I can turn to her no matter what now.

I remember when my oldest son started Kindergarten. I thought I was a mess but it turns out my husband was worse. He had me get into the car and we drove over to the school to make sure our son got off the bus okay.

My favorite back to school memory was when I started junior high! I remember my exact outfit - orange peasant top and flowy white skirt - and my new haircut! I was so psyched to start at a new school with all new classmates and teachers.

My favorite back-to-school memory was when I changed schools halfway through my 4th grade year, and I was so shy and afraid being the 'new kid'. Well, 2 girls welcomed me and stayed close to me in the beginning, and to this day I am still friends with these 2 girls who are now great lady friends!! Thank you for the contest!

My favorite back to school memory is of walking along a neighbor's sidewalk and picking fresh peas off her garden fence--they were delicious, and she knew we were doing it and didn't care. Made the walk to school extra nice on some pretty hot fall days!

My favorite back-to-school memory is when the fist day of school finally ended. I HATED school, which is odd, since I received mostly straight A's until I graduated. I found kids, as a whole, to be generally unkind. There were a few exceptions of course.

Not any year in particular, but I was always so glad to get to see my friends that I had not seen over the summer. The feeling of "hope" in the air was always something that made me look forward to school starting. Every year, I vowed that THIS was going to be my best year yet!

Although I hated the 1st day of school photos, in later years it was great to have them to see how much we changed each year!

my favorite memory was starting school and waving goodbye to my mom, I was so grown up and brave-ready to face the world and meet lots of new friends. I also helped to comfort my new little friends who spent the day endlessly sobbing by patting their backs and telling them it would be ok. And for the boy that ate that yucky white paste, well I brought him some water to wash it down with ;)
